The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department hosted the 10th Annual Peace Officers’ Memorial Service on Thursday, May 12 at the Justice Center.
The event pays tribute to fallen officers from Hawkins County. The guest speaker was Rick Baker, President of the Tennessee Trainers Association. Baker spoke about the sacrifices made by peace officers and recited a prayer made by George Washington.
There was a 21-gun salute from the HCSO Tactical team, which was followed by the playing of Taps. A fly-over by three law-enforcement helicopters closed the ceremonies.
The fallen officers honored were Farris Ward (1930), William H. Frye (1931), Drew Harrell (1937), John Wesley Wright (1988), and Gerald (Bubba) Gibson (2000).
