JOHNSON CITY - Former
Congressman David Davis does not want any part of "nasty politics." David
Davis, who represented the 1st Congressional District of Tennessee in the 110th Congress, announced
today that he will not seek to return to the U. S. House of Representatives in 2010.
"People have encouraged me to run for Congress again in 2010 and polling data suggest that I
could be successful. I have decided, however, not to seek reelection this year. In my opinion, a
reelection bid would require a negative campaign that would not be in the best interest of the First
Congressional District nor the political process. People are tired of nasty politics and it is not
in my nature to mount that type of campaign," Davis said in a media release.
"I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve the people of East Tennessee in Washington
and I may decide to run for Congress again in the future. But for now, I can best help the economy
by hiring staff in need of jobs and patients in the need of high quality healthcare by focusing on
my business," he added. Davis is President and principle owner of Shared
Health Services, Inc. The company has hospital based Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Centers in
several states across America.
