ROGERSVILLE - A Hawkins County teacher, arrested after she allegedly threatened to kill her adult daughter, has been granted a pretrial diversion that will require no jail time. Veleka Sharon Setsor, 40, 102 Gordon Road, Rogersville, was charged February 3 with aggravated assault after Deputy Ethan Calhoun responded to domestic dispute call at the address involving the mother and daughter. In June she was indicted on a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault. Setsor is a teacher at Hawkins Elementary School. Calhoun's report of the incident states he talked with Eden Cheyenne Setsor, 18, who told the deputy that during an argument her mother told her to "pack all of her belongings and leave home." "According to the daughter, her mother then left her bedroom and retrieved what appeared to be a rifle and threatened to kill her with it," the deputy's report states. The mother confirmed that she "did get what she thought was a pellet rifle" and returned to the room, the deputy wrote. Under the terms of the agreement, approved June 26 in Hawkins County Criminal Court, while on probation she must perform community service and complete an anger management class. If Setsor completes all the requirements her record will be expunged. Her attorney, Doug Jenkins, said he does not anticipate the agreement will have any impact on her teaching career. "She is a tenured teacher,:" he noted. "Everyone involved just wants to put this behind them and move forward."
