CHURCH HILL – Church Hill used a strong second-half to break open a close game and push the Lady Panthers to a 37-24, come-from-behind victory over Rogersville Middle School Monday at Church Hill Middle School.
Behind Emily McPherson, Emma Mowell and Karli Eidson, the Lady Warriors took a 6-5 lead after one quarter and a 15-12 advantage at the break.
McPherson scored seven in the first half for the Lady Warriors, including three-of-three from the free throw line. Eidson hit both of her foul shots and Mowell scored two baskets as RMS looked to pull off the road win.
Church Hill came alive in the third quarter, however. Emily Wyatt, who scored four points in the first half, added six in the third quarter. Abbey Cradic, who hit two three-pointers in the first half, added another in the third period, as the Lady Panthers outscored RMS, 13-6, in the quarter to take a 25-21 advantage heading into the fourth.
Church Hill kept the pressure on in the final period, outscoring Rogersville, 12-3, as Wyatt tallied 11 of the Lady Panther points.
Wyatt led all scorers with 21, including six-of-seven from the line. Cradic added nine on three three-pointers and Kendra Huff added five.
McPherson led Rogersville with 15. Eidson scored five and Mowell four for RMS.
