ROGERSVILLE — Middle school football season kicked off last Thursday with a scrimmage game between the town’s two team off Warriors, as Rogersville Middle School hosted Rogersville City School.

The practice session allowed both teams to work on offense and defense with coaches on the field to provide closer instruction.

There were no kickoffs or punts and score was not officially kept as the purpose of the scrimmage was to run offensive and defensive plays at game speed against competition.

RMS, which scrimmaged Surgoinsville Monday, opens its regular season Tuesday against Mosheim at West Greene High School. RCS was still finalizing its schedule at press time. The Review’s annual football preview will publish next Wednesday, Aug. 15.
