This is a letter to all of Veterans of Hawkins County, our young and older Veterans that don’t belong to any Veteran organization, or even if you belong to another organization: American Legion Post #21 needs your membership and you to survive.
On Sept. 9, 2019, our Post will be 100 years old and we are having a membership drive for the year 2020.
A lot of our members are from the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam eras and due to age and medical issues, many can’t do the things that we need to do to keep our Post going.
Some of the programs that we do to honor Veterans and children in our community are: Four Chaplain Service, Memorial Day Service, Flag Ceremony, POW/MIA Service, Veterans Day, and this year, a School Pledge Allegiance class.
During this membership drive we want to invite you to come to our meetings (on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.) If you are already a member of our post, we need you! If you are not a member of our post, we will be honored to sign you up today ... we need your membership and you.
Per our National Charter requirements, we will need a copy of your DD214. You may black out the SS number for privacy.
If you need more information, please call me at 423-235-1165.
Commander Dennis Elkins
