ROGERSVILLE — Award winning actress, Parents’ Choice Award-winning storyteller, singer-songwriter, activist, speaker and star of the acclaimed 2015 film, “War Room”, Karen Abercrombie will be the guest speaker for the Women of Hope Fall Conference on Sat., Oct. 21, 2017 at Hope Community Church of Rogersville.
The actress earned Dove, Movieguide, and Grace awards for her portrayal of the spicy, 80-year old prayer warrior, Miss Clara, and will be the keynote speaker at the 6 p.m. event on the campus, located at 4163 US Hwy. 11W between Rogersville and Surgoinsville.
In addition to her role in “War Room” — a film produced by the Georgia church family that also brought “Facing the Giants”, “Courageous” and “Fireproof” to the screen — Abercrombie has also appeared in TV shows such as “The Inspectors”, “Turn”, “Vampire Diaries”, “Ally McBeal”, “Saved By The Bell”, “Judging Amy” and “Strong Medicine”.
Abercrombie recently formed her own production company, Tapestry Entertainment, LLC, where she is creating and producing uplifting, thought provoking entertainment for television, the big screen and for the stage. These touching, informative, character driven stories of hope, courage and the resiliency of the human spirit, are intended to show the world that we have more in common than we realize, that we need each other, and to weave us together with common threads.
She currently has two film projects, “Silent Grace” and “Just Grace”, and a video series, “YOUR Stories in History”, in development.
She is also working on a new TV project for children that will begin production in early 2018, “Nana Kay and The Story Quilt.”
