ROGERSVILLE — A Sneedville man who wrecked his 2007 Honda Accord near Rogersville last week was charged with driving on a revoked license and violation of the state’s financial responsibility law.

Hawkins Co. Sheriff’s Deputy John Tunnell said in a report that 37-year old Roy Edward Kerney was involved in an auto accident on Hwy. 70 North and Devil’s Nose Road.

Kerney told Deputy Tunnell that he was headed toward Rogersville when a tire blew out, causing him to lose control and hit some cinder blocks on the side of the road.

A check of Kerney’s driver license through the NCIC system revealed that his license had been revoked for failure to appear on an unspecified charge in a North Carolina court in October of 2017. Kerney was also unable to provide proof of insurance coverage on the vehicle.

The driver was charged and transported to the Hawkins Co. Jail for booking.

The damaged vehicle was towed by a local wrecker service.
