MORRISTOWN — The Hamblen County Genealogical Society is pleased to announce they are publishing a History and Families coffee table style book to celebrate the county turning 150 years old in 2020.

The primary content of the book will be family biographies of 500 words and a photo submitted for free by past and present residents of Hamblen County. Families from all towns in the county, whether you’ve here a long time or a short while, are highly encouraged to submit your bio and purchase a book. Anyone who has EVER LIVED in Hamblen County is welcome to participate and submit their family biographies.

The hardbound, leatherette book will be published by Acclaim Press, a highly regarded publisher in Sikeston, Missouri, that specializes in history books for counties celebrating anniversaries. They have published over 125 county history books, and will assist the HCGS with the project.

Earleen Thompson Sides, President of the HCGS, is currently assembling a book committee from members of the Genealogical Society. This group will organize the submissions to Acclaim.

Brochures will soon go out through the entire county with all the information needed to submit your family bio and purchase your copy of the book.

This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and people with Hamblen County roots are highly encouraged to submit their bios and purchase a copy of the book celebrating 150 years of Hamblen County history.
