SURGOINSVILLE — Linda Gail Scalf, age 64, of Surgoinsville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2019, following a brief illness.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Klepper Byington; sister, Bertha Necessary; and brother, Ralph Byington.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 45 years, Dale Scalf; daughter, Sarah Garvey and fiance, Jeff King; sons, Robbie Scalf and fiance, Tonia Cruz, and Brandon Scalf and wife, Naomi; grandchildren, Dakota Carpenter, Hunter and Bradley Garvey, Jacob and Aubree Scalf, and Josie Waller; sisters, Barbara Lindsey and husband Chester, and Shirley Seymour; brothers, Robert Byington, Jr., and Jerry Byington and wife Bobbie; brother-in-law, Rev. Clarence Necessary; and sister-in-law, Bertha Byington Falin. Several nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Jerry Qualls also survive.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the nursing staff at Indian Path Community Hospital ICU.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2019, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home, in Rogersville, or at any other times at the daughter’s residence, 115 Jefferson Drive, Church Hill, TN. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m., with Rev. Paul Necessary officiating. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019, in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
