DECATUR, Georgia — Arthur Nelson Kinkead, 94, passed peacefully on June 15, 2017 in Decatur, GA.
Born in Rogersville, TN, the son of Nelson Francisco and Mary Bell Kinkead Charles, he lived most of his life in Washington, D.C. He was a World War II Veteran and continued his service to his country as a munitions specialist for the Department of Defense until retirement.
Arthur was a great man who was known for his charisma, quit-wit and love of learning. He graduated from Swift Memorial Junior College in 1944 and continued his studies at Howard University. He enjoyed travel, music, tennis and social gatherings. He was always the life of the party and was loved by many.
He is survived by his two children, Broderick Nelson Kinkead and wife Karen, and Edith Barbara Wise and husband David. He is also the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Dr. Lucretia Marcelle Jones and Nicholas Arthur Kinkead. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 23, 2017, promptly at 10 a.m. at Hasson Street Christian Church, 601 N. Hasson St., Rogersville, TN 37857.
