KINGSPORT — The Kingsport Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Johnson City are sponsoring a Mental Health Fair on Oct. 14 at 10 a.m.
Organizers said this is a great opportunity to learn about mental illness, how to serve those who deal with mental issues, and how to help those that provide care for a family member or friend.
Attendees will learn about symptoms, treatments and coping skills as well as other resources including where to find support and education and help in dealing with crisis.
Mental illnesses are brain disorders that cause severe disturbances in thinking, feeling, and relating to other people. These illnesses can affect anyone regardless of race, age, gender or intelligence,
The event will be held at the LDS Building, at 100 Canongate Road in Kingsport.
The program is free and open to everyone age 12 or older.
