ROGERSVILLE — The National Wild Turkey Federation’s Clinch Mountain Longbeards will hold JAKES Day at Cherokee High School. Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
If you are 17 years old or younger and like hunting, fishing, hiking, camping or just being outside with your family, the Clinch Mountain Longbeards say JAKES is the program for you.
JAKES stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship.  The National Wild Turkey Federation started the JAKES program as a way to give kids the chance to explore their outdoor world through hundreds of fun events.
At the JAKES Day event there will be door prizes to give away and all children 17 and younger will receive a free one year membership to the National Wild Turkey Federation JAKES program.
There will be displays from other organizations from the community.  Food will be provided free for all children and one adult per family.  If more than one adult per family attends, food will be available for a donation to the Clinch Mountain Longbeards Chapter.
The first 50 children to pre-register will receive a free JAKES Day T-shirt.  Pre-registration must be received by September 15.  A parent or legal guardian must accompany all children 17 years old and under.
For more information about the  event, the JAKES program or the local chapter contact Ed Avery at (423) 293-4442 or email at edavery@nwtf-clinchmountainlongbeards.org.
