Vivian Elizabeth Deal McCrary, age 88, of Rogersville, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Asbury Center at Baysmont, Kingsport after an extended illness.
    She was born in Greenwood, SC on January 14, 1922.  Mrs. McCrary accepted Christ as her savior at a young age, was an active Chrisian, a steadfast believer in the power of prayer and a member of the Rogersville First United Methodist Church.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. and Lillie Mae Riley Klugh; husband and father of her children, Ross Calvin Deal; second husband, John Porter McCrary; sister, Joan Klugh Capps.
    She is survived by her daughter, Rosalynn Deal Gray and husband, John of Rogersville; son, Preston E. Deal and wife, Jennifer of Bristol, Tennessee; grandchildren, Laura Hartness and husband, Brian of Rogersville, Marissa Porrello and husband, Sean of Atlanta, Georgia, Andrea Dowdell, Brad Deal of Bristol, Tennessee, Brian Deal and wife, Jessica of Meadowview, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Madeline Hartness, Tyler Porrello, Trevor and Trent Dowdell; sister, Doris Cole of Hendersonville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
    Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010 at Broome Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gerald Jones officiating.  A private graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport.
    The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Asbury's Steadman Hill Assisted Living, Netherland Life Care at Baysmont and Smokey Mountain Hospice for the loving care provided to Mrs. McCrary during her illness.
