Jennie V. Larkin, age 96, of 4531 Carter's Valley Road, Church Hill passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Indian Path Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.
Ms. Larkin was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member of the Grange Hall United Methodist Church. She was a retired school teacher from the Hawkins County School System with 46 years of service. She taught school at Grange Hall, Bradshaws Chapel, Liberty Hill and retired from Carter's Valley Elementary School. She was a member of the Hawkins County Retired Teachers Association.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Larkin and Bertie Wills Larkin, Baby sister, Mary Lewis Larkin, two brothers, Ralph Larkin and Charles Larkin.
Survivors include two nephews, Bill Larkin and Jim Larkin both of Church Hill; two nieces, Romilda Stinson and husband Jerry Stinson, Jane Manis and husband (Hooty) Manis all of Church Hill; two great nephews, Marty Manis, Chris larkin and wife, Denise larkin. Great niece, Maegan Manis, Great great nephews, Aaron Larkin and Nathan Larkin. Special friends, Dorothy & Carolyn Wolfe.
Calling hours were from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence of her niece, Jane Manis, 4613 Carter's Valley Road, Church Hill. Funeral services were conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Debra Collins officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11a.m. Friday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Grange Hall United Methodist Church Members and former students.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Grange Hall United Methodist Church.
