Kenneth Earl Jenkins

Kenneth Earl Jenkins, age 83, of Bulls Gap, died Monday morning, June 22, 2009 at his home.

He was a lifelong farmer and the owner and operator of Grandview Farm.  He was CEO of MDS Trucking of Morristown and co-founder of Minco Inc. in Midway.

Mr. Jenkins was a member of First Community Bank Board of Directors in Rogersville and Laughlin Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.

He was a member of Bulls Gap United Methodist Church, Master Mason of Warrensburg Masonic Lodge No. 631, and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Patsy Jenkins; five daughters and three sons-in-law: Lynda and Reece Ramsey of Bulls Gap, Doris and Ivan Potter and Lois Bowman all of Mosheim, JoAnn and Terry Glass of Morristown, and Gail Stroud of Bulls Gap; 15 grandchildren and their spouses: Mitzy and Terry Reed, Robbie and Carla Ramsey, Brent and Amber Potter, Melissa and Tracy Venoy, Kenneth and Pam Potter, Sherry and Chris Cox, Debbie and Mike Gladwell, Patty Solomon, Ricky and Crystal White, Wendy and James Carpenter, Shannon and Amy Glass, Angie and David Kirk, Christy Bowman and Doug Bishop, Tosha Stroud, and Tonya Stroud; 30 great-grandchildren: Lourinda Anderson, T. J. Reed, Ashley Ramsey, Dalton Ramsey, Braxton Potter, Grayson Potter, Keatton Potter, Hayden Venoy, Avery Venoy, Zachary Potter, Zane Potter, Zoey Potter, Gavin Cox, Cameron Cox, Brittany Taylor, Emily Taylor, Adam Gladwell, Kaitlin Hale, Colby Seymore, Madison Carpenter, Ethan Carpenter, Evan Glass, Austin Glass, Shae Kirk, Dylan Kirk, Bailey McIntyre, Drake McIntyre, Maddox Bishop, Dalton Stroud, and one on the way; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Don and Carol Overton, Harold and Shirley Overton, Lonella and Elmo Williams, Judy and Jim McDonald, Charlie Overton; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece: Barbara Webb; and two special gentlemen who had helped with the farm since the first of the year: Elmo Williams and Jim McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Flora Jenkins; one daughter: Kathy Jenkins; one grandson: Brian Ramsey; two great-grandchildren: Joshua Tolliver and Chelsie Tolliver; one sister: Verneil Richards; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Delmer and Ella Overton; a special son-in-law and friend: Jimmy Stroud; son-in-law: Dale Bowman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel.  The Rev. Bill Hughes and the Rev. Richard Long will officiate.  Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 3 - 8 p. m. on Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Robbie Ramsey, Brent Potter, Kenneth Potter, Ricky White, Shannon Glass, T. J. Reed, Terry Reed, Tracy Venoy, Chris Cox, Mike Gladwell, James Carpenter, David Kirk, and Doug Bishop.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McDonald, Elmo Williams, Jesse Williams, Richard Hall, Raymond Hall, Bill Justice, Chris Webb, David Webb, and Michael Webb.
